Defence Medical Welfare Service

Since 1943 Defence Medical Welfare Service (DMWS) has been providing medical welfare service to frontline staff and their families when they are on a medical care pathway.

Thanks to a successful grant from Armed Forces Covenant Fund – Tackling Loneliness programme, DMWS and The Veterans Hub will be working in collaboration to help members of the local Armed Forces population.

The DMWS Welfare Office is at the Hub every Wednesday, 1000 – 1600hrs

Offering a confidential and impartial listening ear

Referrals to other agencies for specific support, e.g. Dorset First Point, SSAFA & the RBL

Recognising issues that may be effecting a person’s wellbeing such as debt, housing, family breakdown

Tackling loneliness and reducing social isolation

Liaising / referring onto NHS services (Op Courage, Steps to Wellbeing)
